Datalayer provides an up-to-date Docker image for the Spitfire Notebook evaluation combined with Apache Ambari, the Manager for the Hadoop ecosystem.

Get the image with docker pull datalayer/spitfire-ambari.

Git clone https://github.com/datalayer/datalayer-docker and start the servers with the start.sh script located in the spitfire-ambari folder.

If you don’t want to clone the repository, simply run:

curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/datalayer/datalayer-docker/master/spitfire-ambari/start.sh -o start.sh ; bash start.sh

When you start the spitfire-ambari Docker image, Spitfire and Ambari are started, however, you still have to create your Cluster.

We recommend you to follow the steps described on the Hortonworks documentation website Installing, Configuring, and Deploying a HDP Cluster.

Start with a simple Cluster with the HDFS + YARN + MapReduce2 + Zookeeper services.

You can now browse http://localhost:8666 to view the Notebook welcome page an analyse datasets.
